Winnett Addition

Design Concept & Building Permits
Tucked onto a narrow lot, this cramped, semi-detached house was screaming for an overhaul. It had that old-school, segmented layout that made every room feel like a claustrophobic cell. So, out went the walls, and in came a complete gut job. The entire interior got a makeover, reconfigured to create an open, modern family space that feels alive, not suffocated. And then came the rear addition—a sleek, bold statement that not only expanded the home but redefined it.

To make sure the new wasn’t just some afterthought slapped on the back, they went for something truly eye-catching. The addition? A cool contrast to the traditional red brick: Shou sugi ban horizontal lap siding with vertical batten detailing—something raw, distinctive, and unmistakable. It’s a bold architectural shout-out, a modern volume that stands apart like a breath of fresh air.
