Office Space

Completed
Here’s the story: the reinvention of a 1940s Etobicoke warehouse into a cutting-edge office building, built on three core ideas: light, the celebration of the existing structure, and a flexible open plan defined by functional volumes. Natural light is the magic here—twelve new exterior windows open up the building, flooding key areas with sunlight and ensuring that most workstations are bathed in the stuff. Then there’s the structure itself, a 40-foot clear span that RUB chose to expose and celebrate. The steel beams and brick columns? They’re not just functional—they’re a visual symphony, creating rhythm and flow in the open office space. To break up the expanse and bring some order to the chaos, support spaces are tucked away, isolated for acoustic and visual privacy, creating two distinct working zones in the heart of the building. It’s a rebirth, but one that never forgets where it came from.
