Bare Bones

Design Concept & Building Permits
Picture this: an old barn, its weathered beams and faded metal siding holding a thousand untold stories. Now imagine it shedding its past like a snake in a new suit, a new purpose. The barn in Hillier, Prince Edward County, is about to transform—this isn’t just a renovation; it’s a rebirth. A new gin distillery, where history meets innovation, takes root right on the land that grows its key ingredient: juniper berries. For centuries, juniper has flavoured gin, a tradition that’s as old as time itself. And now, it’s coming home, grown right on the property where the distillery will rise.

This is the art of turning old into new, of giving a timeworn structure a new dress, a new life. The barn—once a quiet sentinel in the countryside—will soon be a gathering place, where people come together, sip a locally crafted spirit, and celebrate the fusion of nature, craft, and community. The building’s bones will remain, but inside, it’ll pulse with the life of something entirely fresh.
